STEP 1 - Carefully Remove U61 with a hot air gun and replace it with the new U61 provided in the kit. Note the orientation of the dot on the IC shown in the picture of U61 below. Do not use a regular soldering iron as that will burn the pads off. Step 2 - Replace the security IC at U53 and make sure the notch is facing the same direction as the one you remove. Step 3- remove the Boot EPROM at U15 and replace it with the new one making sure once again that the notch facing the same way as the old one. Step 4 - Insert the compact flash card in the IDE port and hook up the power to it and your done

This page is dedicated to helping you find corrosion on Golden Tee or Buck Hunter boards before you waste your time and money sending them in for repair. The reason for corrosion is NOT the environment such as wet basements or moisture! So dont be fooled into thinking that because its always been taken care of in a heated or dry environment your board is exempt. The corrosion forms in the layers of the boards because bad chemicals were used during the solder wave process. About 85 % of the green boards are corroded and about 50% of red boards are corroded. I can sometimes reflow the surface mount ICs and bring the board back to life. There are also instances where the corrosion has destroyed the board and its non repairable. Also keep in mind that there are 2 large main surface mounts that were custom programed for IT and are not avaiable any longer and haven't been for many years so if one of those fails (which they do ) the board will be deemed un repairable.
This section will deal with a problem that I see quite often. The boards reset intermittently or all the time. Now, this can be due to a few problems. One is low or high voltage on the plus 5 volts DC.

If you have an NFL Blitz / NBA Showtime Vegas system, you should note that it uses a Voodoo video card. The Gauntlet and or WAR Final Assault Vegas system uses an Obsidian video card, which means that you cannot run the NBA Showtime on a Gauntlet system without changing out the video card to the Voodoo card, and vise versa for the Gauntlet on the NBA Showtime system.

To do this, first press the self-test button in the game or the slide switch on the PCB (labeled test switch) to get the game into self-test mode.
